hello there! you can call me by my username, squeegee. or, if you'd like, as mim. i'm a university student in their last year, studying psychology. i found stained quills on reddit and thought i should give forum roleplaying a go since i heard that it is far more relaxed and on a less punishing pace than discord. that being said, coding!!! wanna get into it because making things pretty & pleasing to the eye? a worthy thing to pursue, in my opinion.

aside from that, i've been roleplaying for about four years now. at first, i started it to get over my writer's block but now, i'm kind of hooked? i don't really know what else to share, but i can't wait to write with you guys :>

Hi there! I'm TheSkaldMan, and I came here from Reddit if anyone's interested. This seemed like the sort of thing I'd like to get into, and I'm a big fan of small communities, so here I am casting my hat into the ring and introducing myself to this little world in the making (:

Me

I'm of the male species IRL, and I've been among the living for 22 years and counting. I'm from Maine in the US, where I still live today, and I have no plans to leave any time soon besides hopefully some tourism when Ms. Rona finally chills out again. I like it here because I like cold climates, woods, the sea, and vikings. Speaking of which, let me explain my username a bit for anyone who might be scratching their heads.

In Norse society, like many societies of that time period, oral storytellers were respected and it was considered an honorable profession. The word "skald" is a Norse word that literally means "poet", and I think that's a description that fits me...not like a glove, but like a fluffy mitten, if that makes any sense. Writing, and especially roleplaying, is my favorite creative outlet, and I put a lot of effort into each word of my works. I view it like an artisanal piece of work; a passionate blacksmith makes every stroke of the hammer count, a talented weaver knows that each thread has an important part to play, a good cook brings his/her A-game to each ingredient and step in a recipe, and to me, writing is the same. When I write, it feels the same way as making something with my hands to be a gift for a friend, and I try to put the same amount of care and skill into it, and since I believe that is what makes a poet, I think it's fair to describe myself by the word for "poet" that comes from the culture of my ancestors which I admire greatly, for their storytelling tradition and other things besides.

I'm a machinist by trade, and while I'm still new to the profession and training to go beyond the baby's first basics, it's the first job I've found that I wouldn't mind still doing by the time I'm 50. As a result, my hours are very stable and consistent, and I make sure to have a healthy amount of home life to balance out my work life and keep my sanity and inner peace in full bloom, so I'm usually very active in whatever communities I'm involved in. I've never roleplayed on a forum like this before, but there's a first time for everything!

My History

I've been roleplaying in some way, shape, or form literally ever since I can remember. To say I was the first kid ever in the world to play imaginary games with my friends would be a lie almost as large as the entire celebrity magazine industry, but it was still a major pastime with my friends and I since we all grew up with an abundance of woods to play in and little in the way of electronic babysitters. I've doing little bits of theater off and on for several years, and while I don't consider myself on the level of stage-acting to even really call myself a hobbyist, you can't help but pick up a few things here and there when both your parents used to do some work for your community theater company.

I've also been playing tabletop games for much of my life, mostly as a player but sometimes as a GM, and that's when my roleplay wings really started to flex, and that eventually lead me to straight-up roleplay back when I was on Kik and Candid (rip). I found my way to Reddit a little later, and that's where I've been for the past four or five years. I found a post on one of the roleplay subreddits talking about this community, thought it looked like a nice place to branch out a little, and the rest, as they say, is history.

My Writing

I'm not a total master of the craft by any means, but I do consider myself quite literate and decently advanced, although I'm always open to hearing about things I could be doing better or different ways to do things I'm already doing. I can always manage to crank out at least two paragraphs per post, usually more, and I pinky promise it's not filler XD. I only do 3rd person, past tense, it's just what makes sense to me and the people I write with. I'm almost always game to try roleplaying in preexisting worlds, but I prefer to keep the characters original; I don't look down on people who like playing canon characters or anything, it's just not something I'm into.

I like a lot of genres, but whenever I'm doing anything that's not strictly realistic, I like it to be "hard." What I mean by that is I actually want to delve into the specifics of the non-realistic parts and not just hand wave everything away. What does transmuting lead to gold do to the economy? What are the social ramifications of synthetic blood being invented and vampires coming out of the closet? What does becoming a half-dead necromancer do to a person's career and family life? Those kinds of questions are bread and butter to me; I love diving into the small details of the big things because I think it makes a more full and interesting story.

I could go into more depth on all of those things, but then I'd be here for hours writing up a whole book and a half, and I'd rather spend my writing energy writing with other people, namely you folks XD. Hello everyone.

My name is Simon and I'm from Poland, so living in Eastern European timezone. English isn't my first language, so I will make mistakes on occasion, but am doing my best to avoid them.
I am tied to my phone, so there is less coding from my part, but hope to have a computer available soon so this might change.

I've been roleplaying for 20+ years at this point, although mostly IRL. The pickings got slim for me recently, so I'm diversifing more into virtual space. I found the link to this forum on Reddit, and decided to give it a go.

I'm a fan of Warhammer both fantasy and 40k, World of Darkness, DnD Forgotten Realms and Star Wars. Plenty of lesser known worlds and homebrews as well, but I don't think names will tell much to anyone.

I've been plaing plenty of techies, detectives and rogues with pension for puzzles and problem solving so do expect me to search for facts first. Then again I am trying to expand, learn and grow so things are bound to get interesting.

I read plenty of fantasy, s-f and horrors, and would love to write my own book in the future. I find PBF to be stimulating enough to hope for the creative process to eventually start.

Hi there! I'm a roleplayer who goes by the name of Winter, and any pronouns are good with me! My first experience roleplaying was about 15 years ago ( so, needless to say, I'm over 21. . . ), on a small forum for fans of a popular show at the time, where I wrote a juvenile, completely butchered portrayal of a canon character, and nobody called me out on it, because most of the other users were also, like, 12, so we were all in the same boat. ( Baby roleplayers!) It's probably for the best that the website was wiped off the face of the earth by the sands of time, sweeping away the evidence of my adolescent writing with it . . .

Anyway, I have come a long way since then as a writer, ( I hope ) and now focus primarily on original characters, deep-diving into both my and others' characters, and building meaningful connections between muses! Though I have roleplayed in many different places, I'm mostly a refugee of tumblr. Funnily enough, my very first roleplay experience over a decade ago was the very last time I've used a forum to roleplay, so I have a lot to learn about formatting and coding ! Please bear with me as I attempt to learn it and navigate this new roleplaying adventure . . . but I'm excited to hopefully meet some new partners and start fun things !!

I have one muse I favor & write much more than the others ( at least, at the moment! ) but I do have a large cast I can break out to add depth to plots, or just for fun! My favorite things to explore in writing are: modern fantasy, horror, love ( of all kinds ), semi-realistic magic, complex familial dynamics and / versus found family, crime, and plumbing the depths of characters. I'm bad at keeping up with fandoms, but some works that have inspired me or I feel some kind of creative kinship to are: Avatar: The Last Airbender. (ATLA was the major inspo for my oc's & worldbuilding, ngl!) Umbrella Academy. Stranger Things. Angel the Series. Our Flag Means Death. Blade (1998), Venom (2018) & Let There Be Carnage, and Guardians of the Galaxy. If any of this sounds interesting to you, we'll probably be a good match to write!

Hello hello!

First off, I am so horrible with these about me things, so I apologize in advance. You can call me Ace, she/her pronouns. I'm pretty sure I might be the oldest one here in my mid 30s. I've been RPing on and off for quite some time, since back when chatrooms were still a thing. I'm pretty friendly and don't mind OOC chatting, I love movies and tv and I love discussing them.
Actually, I love art in all shapes and forms and may sprinkle gifs or share song titles that I used as inspiration for a post.

I write in the third person, I feel it flows the easiest to the reader and I enjoy playing female characters best. I'm not opposed to playing male characters, especially cannon characters if a partner is doubling up as well. Communication with a writing partner is key to me, I love to make sure that my partners are happy with the way the story is going. So if you're someone who likes to plan every detail, lets do it. If you prefer to just let the story flow between the two of us, I'm game for that also. I just want to make sure everyone is participating in the storytelling.

Now my favorite aspect of writing is exploring character development, relationships and internal dialogue. I love not only exploring how a character would handle situations or interact with others, but the art of compiling the words to convey the emotion so hopefully the reader experiences their own emotion. Other broad spectrum genres I enjoy in regards to characters include romance (albeit organically and unforced), enemies to lovers, conflict, tropes I haven't had the pleasure of experiencing, sci-fi, horror (without gratuitous violence), modern day fantasy, and historical fantasy. Though, magic should still have some kind of rhyme or reason, the rules of the realm if you would.

Worldbuilding is not exactly my strong suite. I understand there are those who thoroughly enjoy planning and creating every little aspect of a world, but I find this tedious. Because of this, I tend to gravitate toward fandoms, where the world is already created and we can tweak from there. Otherwise, I like to let the universe bloom on its own after establishing a baseline. My other dislikes include super detailed politics, intricate organized crime and slice of life.

I'm a mother of two young ones, and an animal guardian to three goats, one house pig, and twenty chickens. So things can be pretty hectic. However, I will make it my business to post at least every other day (though I usually shoot for everyday) and I will communicate if I'm backed up. I won't leave you hanging. And if you haven't noticed my formatting is crap, cause I'd rather invest my time on writing.

mmm i'm very bad at introductions because i'm quite shy (like, no joke i went back and forth on whether to register or not for a good hour before deciding to go for it) but i do want to try to be more confident! my name is tewro and i'm italian and living here! i teach english as a second language as a job but it's not what i want to do in life so hopefully soon i'll go back to university for a second degree, this time in translating/interpreting! past that i've done mostly 1x1s with friends for the past few years! it's a lot of fun, but i also want to broaden my horizons a bit more (as far as my shyness will let me at least orz) and try new things. i love oc's! creating, writing, drawing... everything relating to oc's is my jam!

I consider myself "inexperienced" due to not having delved into many genres and settings, along with only writing within my friend group. I'm looking to get back into the swing of things soon, including joining new RP sites in hopes of finding a "new home." The aim is to make friends and improve little by little.~

Literacy: I'm a casual lazy lit RPer. I usually cap out at 5 paragraphs, but I have been known to write a bit more if inspiration strikes. That said, I'm not aspiring to be a professional writer! This is just a fun hobby for me, and we'd get along if you think the same!

Character wise: Despite being female, I like playing male muses the most. I guess it's because it's more of a "challenge" for me, haha. However, I like writing for both genders, especially if side characters are needed to advance the plot.

Will try to keep the list short, but here are things that interest me.

✦ I like roleplays with a "anime-esque" feel to them, and I adore certain tropes that come with that.

✦ Huge sucker for romance. The RP can be romance centric or have it as a subplot, but it's a 'must' for me.

✦ Also fond of horror/thriller, and supernatural when it comes to RPs. Urban fantasy and low fantasy interest me as well.
